Gmail’s new AI feature will soon write entire emails for you, Google announces.

Google announces a new AI feature for Gmail that promises to revolutionize the way we write emails. The feature, called “Smart Compose,” will use artificial intelligence to suggest complete sentences as users type out their emails. This means that Gmail will essentially write entire emails for you, with just a few keystrokes required on your part.

The idea behind Smart Compose is to save users time and improve the quality of their emails. Google announces, the feature will reduce the need for users to type out common phrases and repetitive sentences, allowing them to focus on the more important aspects of their message.

Smart Compose will work by analyzing the text that the user is typing and predicting what they will write next.

It will then display a suggestion in a grayed-out text box that the user can either accept or ignore. If the user accepts the suggestion, they can simply press the “tab” key to have the suggestion automatically inserted into their email.

The feature will also learn from the user’s writing style over time, allowing it to make more accurate predictions and suggestions. For example, if the user often writes emails with a friendly and informal tone, Smart Compose will suggest phrases that match this style.

Smart Compose is not the first to added to Gmail’s new AI feature. In 2018, Google introduced a similar feature called “Smart Reply,” which suggests short responses to emails based on their content. However, Smart Compose takes this concept a step further by suggesting entire sentences and paragraphs.

Google announces that the feature will be rolled out to all Gmail users over the coming weeks.

It will initially be available in English, with support for other languages expected to be added in the future.

While Smart Compose has the potential to be a game-changer for email communication, some users may be concerned about the implications of AI-generated content. For example, there may be questions around who is responsible for the content of an email if it has been partially or fully generated by an algorithm.

Gmail’s new Smart Compose feature is set to change the way we write emails by using artificial intelligence to suggest complete sentences and paragraphs. While it has the potential to save users time and improve the quality of their emails, there may be questions around the responsibility for AI-generated content. It remains to be seen how users will respond to this new feature and how it will shape the future of email communication.
